I love it and it gets a lot of compliments. Nice colour, would like it to be a bit cheaper though.

How Going Green Can Save the Environment and Your Bank Account

Many people are going green to reduce their carbon footprint to help to save the environment. But going green can also have a positive effect on your bank account as well. If you are looking to save some green, going eco friendly can help you to do so in multiple ways.

Save energy

Looking for ways to save energy can help you to save money as well when it comes time to pay your electric bill. And you don’t have to switch to alternative energy source for that electricity, although that is a good idea in itself. Setting your home thermostat down a few degrees in the winter and up a few degrees in the summer will waste less energy. Changing to compact fluorescent light bulbs will save energy and put fewer light bulbs in landfills. Washing your clothes with cold water and then drying them on a clothesline will help you to save a lot of money and energy when you do the laundry.

Save water

Another way to go eco friendly and save cash is to save water. Try taking shorter showers or installing a low-flow showerhead. Wait to run dishwashers and washing machines until you have a accumulated a full load. And when planting outside, look for plants that need a minimal amount of watering. When it comes to the water you drink, skip on buying the bottled stuff and instead get a filter for your home tap reducing plastic bottle consumption. Carry a reusable water bottle filled with your filtered water with you to help reduce waste and cut your costs.

Save fuel

If rising gas prices are a concern for you, then saving gas will help you save money along with saving the environment. You could try walking or riding a bike instead of driving where you need to go. Telecommuting, using public transportation, or moving closer to work will help save you money in the face of rising fuel prices and reduce your carbon footprint.

One of the best solutions to consider is to buy a converter kit for your vehicle, thus making your existing car a hybrid. By performing the simple task of installing the kit, you will make use of cleaner fuel and reduce your personal emissions as well as get an overall lower gas price. This, coupled with tremendous financial savings due to reduced gas costs, makes installing a kit an easy win-win decision for any consumer.

Save food

While you might not think of the purchase of groceries as being eco friendly behavior, there are some things you can do while shopping that will help the environment and save you money. Try eating one additional meatless meal a week, or go completely vegetarian. This will help you cut your grocery budget and reduce negative environmental factors. Buy locally produced food as much as you can – not only will the food be fresher and healthier and likely cost less, but you will not have to worry about the carbon footprint created for shipping the items nearer to you.

Buy smart

Buying smarter will help to save you money and allow you to be more eco friendly at the same time. Recycling is great, but ‘Reuse before Recycling’ as this saves even more resources. Try finding gently used secondhand products instead of buying new, particularly for items like furniture, appliances, clothes, and even toys. Buy products from companies that use alternative fuels in manufacturing and/or are conscious about their carbon footprint. Borrow books and videos from the library, and share toys and tools with neighbors. You can also buy in bulk to save money reducing the amount of packaging that come with your products and reduce your usage profile.

If you pay attention to your everyday life, there are plenty of areas where you can shop smarter and save green in both your pocketbook and the environment.

HHO – Does it really save you money?

What would you say if you didn’t have to buy a new car in order to get the advantages of a hybrid. Time to save money any way you can, even if it takes a small investment for the future. Sounds like a great idea, but will it really be worth it???

You know when you buy a new hybrid vehicle you’ll get the advantage of using electric power for your stop-and-go driving, saving gas. While you will save more money driving a hybrid as the price of oil rises, the current cost of hybrid batteries is still quite a pricy add-on cost for a vehicle. In a HybridCars article, ‘Beware of Electric Car Costs’, published March 29, 2009, it says that the current cost of hybrid batteries is about $2000 per kilowatt-hour and that ‘hybrid vehicles versus advanced diesel vehicles become more [cost] efficient at $160 per barrel’. Certainly, subsidized vehicles like the Toyota Prius are leading the hybrid pack, but is buying a new hybrid the only way to ’save’ money?

What about these ‘water for gas’ units? They sound too good to be true. Are they?

You may have seen advertisements in magazines, noticed ads or articles on the web or even seen a recent TV exposé on the water for gas units that are becoming ever more popular in this cost conscious world. You may not realize that these water conversion units have been around for over 30 years. Up until now, garage enthusiasts have been the sole customer-base for these kits. Do-it-yourself and save money!!! Now, with the focus on high gas prices from late last year it has pushed the automotive do-it-yourself into the mainstream. But do these kits work???

The short answer is – YES. But as in all things too good to be true, it is yes for some kits applied under the right conditions.

Although widely variable in construction, water for gas kits all basically try to do the same thing. These kits use water and electricity from your battery to create hydrogen and oxygen gas through a process called electrolysis. The hydrogen doesn’t burn by itself to make your engine go, but by injecting the hydrogen gas into your engine air intake, it helps the gas or diesel to burn more efficiently so you get better gas mileage on less gas and a cleaner engine. And you also output less harmful emissions! This is called Hydrogen on Demand (HoD) or Hydrogen Fuel Injection (HFI). Sounds great, doesn’t it?

A key factor to consider in assessing HoD is what kind of car you have. What most HoD offers fail to mention is that by injecting hydrogen into your air intake system, it allows your vehicle to run on a leaner fuel mixture than you would without the hydrogen. Gasoline cars in the US that use a Controller Area Network and a Wideband Sensor (O2 sensor) or in the EU that have a Standard Electronic Fuel Management System, will not get the same benefit from these HoD kits because the sensors interpret the lean fuel mixture as a system fault and enrich the gas mixture anyway, limiting or eliminating the possible fuel savings. The same thing happens for diesel vehicles produced since 2008. So, for those of us who have vehicles with O2 sensors, HoD may not be the right thing.

The next thing to consider is the kit itself. Is it a quality-engineered product? What about the company selling the product? It is important to understand Kit components and level of product quality. Knowing that you are dealing with a reputable company that backs its products is important just as in any other products you buy.

Finally, ask yourself if the kit manufacturer provides right-sized kits and the help I need in picking the right kit for my vehicle? Often, this is the case of buy-it-and-try-it, back to do-it-yourself guesswork. There are a few kit manufacturers who do tell it like it is and also provide detailed product information about their pre-assembled kits so you know that you are getting the right amount of hydrogen to enable you to receive that great gas mileage.

Does HoD work and save you money on gas? The answer is yes. Is HoD right for you and your vehicle? Once you have determined whether you have an O2 sensor or not, you are ready to select from the reputable retailers for quality HoD Kits and start saving money today!

Even with the high price tag Danish born English designer Henrik Fisker did a great job designing a car compared to porsche 911. This car is the leanest and most agile car of Aston’s three-model line-up and along with the impressive Aston Martin DB9 is in the fridge on the BBC show Top Gear because the presenters said it was too cool for the Sub Zero section.

In this Video Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond reviews this car and then raced it against a german jet powered roller skater.

Aston Martin DB9 Coupe

The Aston Martin DB9 Coupe is a rear wheel drive motor boasting a top speed of 186 mph with both the automatic and manual transmission. The 0-60 acceleration time for the manual transmission is 4.7 seconds compared to 4.9 seconds with the automatic transmission.

With a price tag circa £110,000 there is a lot to live up to and the DB9 Coupe delivers on many areas but is let down somewhat by the limited passenger space in the back. Needless to say, if you buy an Aston Martin passenger space will not be your first thought – but how it makes you feel when behind the wheel.

The price does bring with it a powerful engine in the form of an all alloy quad overhead cam 48 valve 5935cc V12. This helps produce 450 bhp at 6000 rpm with 420lb ft of torque at around 5000 rpm. However, there is a difference in fuel consumption between the automatic and manual transmission with the manual version being more efficient at around 26.4 mpg in urban areas with the automatic hovering around 24.9 mpg.

As far as being eco-friendly, the DB9 is comparative to other luxury cars in the sense that it wasn’t built with the environment in mind. Having said that, the automatic transmission setup has less carbon dioxide emissions than the manual transmission – which may help to offset the higher fuel consumption somewhat, but it could be improved further.

There are plenty of safety and security features as standard on the DB9 Coupe including Anti Lock Brakes (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) as well as driver and passenger airbags. Additional safety is provided with front side airbags while the security includes an alarm, immobiliser and central locking.

Options packages include a sports pack that helps maintain the DB9 as a decent handler as suspension performance is cranked up a bit as well as a revision to the dampers, springs and a front anti-roll bar. Satellite navigation is included as standard along with a radio and six-CD auto-changer.

Overall, the Aston Martin DB9 Coupe oozes style when and helps make it one of the most desirable cars to drive even if it hasn’t been designed with the environment or fuel efficiency in mind. If interior room and fuel consumption are your top priorities, the DB9 may not be your ideal choice… but it definitely will make you stand out from the crowd if you desire.
